The Story Behind Silveroaks
An Alluring Escape Into Nature
Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Coorg, Silveroaks Resort offers a serene retreat for travelers seeking tranquility, nature, and authentic Kodagu hospitality. Located in Kunda, near Ponnampet and just a 30-minute drive from Nagarahole National Park, the resort sits at an elevation of 2,800 feet above sea level, surrounded by majestic Silver Oak trees, sprawling coffee plantations, aromatic spice estates, and the untouched beauty of the Western Ghats.
Spread across nearly 10 hectares of pristine plantation land, the property overlooks the sacred forest known locally as Devara Kaadu and the scenic Kunda Hill, rising to 4,500 feet above sea level — a paradise for trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
What makes Silveroaks truly unique is its deep commitment to preserving the environment. The resort was thoughtfully developed without cutting a single naturally grown tree on the property, ensuring that the landscape remains untouched and harmonious with nature.
Founded and managed by Mr. Sudesh (Bob), Silveroaks was created with a deep respect for nature and the rich heritage of Coorg. Built amidst untouched greenery without disturbing the natural landscape, the resort offers warm Kodava hospitality, peaceful surroundings, scenic trails, coffee plantations, and an authentic countryside experience that allows guests to truly reconnect with nature.
KODAGU
The Land of the Kodavas
A Quick Glimpse Into Kodagu
Often referred to as the “Scotland of India,” Kodagu (Coorg) is one of South India’s most enchanting hill regions.Situated in Karnataka, along the Karnataka–Kerala border in the Western Ghats, Kodagu is celebrated for its mist-covered hills, lush forests, sprawling coffee plantations, and tranquil natural beauty. Fondly known as the “Land of Coffee,” “Land of Warriors,” and the “Kashmir of the South,” Kodagu is a destination where nature, culture, and tradition exist in perfect harmony. Bordered by the majestic Western Ghats and the birthplace of the sacred River Cauvery, the region is home to the proud Kodava community — renowned for their courage, warm hospitality, unique traditions, and deep respect for nature. The rich cultural heritage of Kodagu can be seen in its festivals, traditional architecture, martial legacy, and the close bond its people share with the land.
Unlike a single hill station or town, Kodagu is a vast district spread across more than 4,100 square kilometers, dotted with picturesque towns, rolling coffee estates, spice plantations, waterfalls, trekking trails, wildlife sanctuaries, sacred groves, and breathtaking viewpoints. Every corner of Kodagu offers a unique experience — from peaceful plantation walks and adventurous treks to wildlife encounters and authentic local cuisine.
